For Andrea, therapy is a way to create space and un-pack some of the difficulties we experience within ourselves (anxiety, depression, etc.), within life, and within relationships. As a psychotherapist, Andrea looks to create a warm, open, safe, non-judgemental environment for clients to explore their inner relationship and/or their relationship with others. By fostering the client-therapist space, individuals can feel secure and empowered to examine their behaviours, thoughts, beliefs and feelings. Working with, but not limited to, person-centred, psychodynamics, CBT, Existential, Family Systems, and psycho-educational approaches, therapy is flexible and adaptable. In addition, mindfulness, breathwork, bodywork, visualisation or role-playing can provide pathways to regulation, realisation and healing. For Andrea, collaboration and dialogue ensure therapy remains client-centred, client-led, and guided by the client’s needs.
Andrea has a particular interest in assisting parents in identifying obstacles to effective parenting, while supporting those to form healthy and robust family
relationships. Specialising in working with lone parents, separated parents or those sharing parenting, she provides support while placing children at the centre. Furthermore, Andrea is experienced in working with diversity, marginalised groups/individuals, trauma and adversity. Andrea conducts group parenting courses on positive parenting, parenting teens, and separating well for children. She is a coordinator and facilitator with and Irish organisation delivering support programmes for children on parental separation and bereavement.
Following her own therapeutic journey and struggles in parenting, Andrea pursued learning and training as a way to develop herself as an individual, and to improve her child and family relationships. Andrea is a parent to three adolescent children. Drawing from her experiences, she maintains that seeking support or therapy as an individual or parent, can be the greatest gift one can offer themselves, children, and family.
