Sophie McDonnell

Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling Student

Sophie is a student art therapist studying in Integrative Counselling and Art Therapy with Dublin Art Therapy College/SETU Carlow and works with clients 18 and over

Sophie studied in the National College of Art & Design so art has always been a passion in her life. She finds that art is another means of communicating without using words and letting out thoughts and feelings using the different materials and colours.

Art therapy shows that there are other ways of communicating and getting in touch with oneself if they can’t find the words for it. Sophie studies and practices both talk and art therapy so clients are invited to make images if they like in the session space. Sophie also brings elements of sound and music to her studies and practice in order to connect with the self also. She believes in connecting with the self and focusing on the present and can provide a ‘safe space’ for clients who would like to explore that.

As Sophie is a student art therapist, she can work with clients who would like to try and explore art therapy but also clients who are working under a budget for sessions.

Sophie can work from Churchtown or Harold’s Cross.
