Helen Groves
Counsellor / Psychotherapist
Helen works part-time as a secondary teacher and part-time as an accredited IACP therapist. She has been working in education for 16 years. Originally from Northern Ireland, she spent some time living and working with a development agency in Paraguay, South America before moving to Dublin, her home for over 20 years. As an integrative practitioner, she works with individuals, couples and families, and her two separate professional identities as teacher and counsellor find a common denominator in her passion for psychoeducation; walking alongside people to help them understand themselves and their place in their world. Helen is married with three girls, aged 15, 13 and 10, so has daily exposure to the joys and challenges of family systems! She is trained in Relationship and Couples counselling and has broad experience and training working systemically with adolescents and their families. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma Studies from University College Cork and is currently completing a MSc degree in Systemic Psychotherapy through University College Dublin. She has worked with many clients specifically in the area of trauma, including early life trauma, perinatal loss and sudden bereavement. She loves to facilitate conversations of difference with her clients and their families, to help them find new ways of relating and communicating.
