John Reynolds
Integrated Psychotherapist/ Addiction counsellor
John began his professional journey in psychotherapy and counselling in 2011 through his involvement in charity work in organisations such as Parentline, the Dublin rape crisis centre (DRCC) and the alternative to violence project (AVP) where he was trained as a crisis counsellor and group facilitator. He was the first of two male counsellors chosen to be trained in sexual trauma and violence with the DRCC. It was through his passion of working with people in crisis and trauma that he began working in addiction with the After-Care Recovery Group in Dublin’s north inner city. He spent a number of years there collaborating with clients from all walks of life meeting them in a compassionate approach in their moment of, right here right now, while helping them deal with their addiction and help neutralize and live with, and not from, what caused their addictive behaviours. He currently works in the southside of Dublin in the addiction services while working as part of the Zeistlife team.
In 2014 John earned a level 7 Certificate in Psychology and Theology with All Hallows college and in 2024 earned his BSc (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy with the IICP college. He is currently finishing his studies with a post graduate diploma in working therapeutically with adolescents with Zeistlife college. John has extensive experience working with adolescent clients in addiction and behavioural issues such as substance abuse, maturational imbalances, suicidal ideation, motivational and emotional states, low self-worth, school absenteeism, and person hood identification.
John approaches his work in the therapy room where the therapist/ client relationship is key to getting down as to why the client is here. He has a supportive and inclusive way with working with his clients where they are felt heard firstly while also feeling safe to bring what they want in a confidential and compassionate space. He likes to have a therapeutic relationship with his clients where they know he will be very honest with them in a non-judgemental, and comfortable environment. He brings a collaborative and inclusive facilitation to the room were the client and share holders are held a space to grow and see life on life’s terms.
John is a pre accredited member of the Irish association of counsellors and psychotherapist (IACP). While working with adult and adolescents John offers general 1 to 1, group facilitation and couple counselling either online or in person. He is a practicing member of the National Acupuncture detoxification Association (NADA) where he encompasses ear acupuncture in his therapy. He also brings sound bowl and mindfulness where the clients are left feeling relaxed and grounded when they are finished each therapy session.
John is married to Diana and is a musician in a band. Keeping fit and having an attitude of gratitude in life keeps his mind, body, and spirit alive each day.
