Maggie Boyd

Clinical Manager

Maggie is an experienced Integrative Psychotherapist holding a Diploma from Zestlife College, and a BA(HONS) degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy with IICP, also holds a Professional cert in CBT, A Post Grad Diploma in Working with Adolescents, an ASIST Certificate, and is a Fully Accredited member of the IACP.  Maggie is also the Clinical Manager at Zestlife Therapeutic Services, and has been working amongst the wonderful team here since 2017.

She continues to upskill regularly, attending CPD courses both onsite in Zestlife and externally. She also holds a qualification in Special Needs Training from the School of Practical Childcare from her pre-therapist days. Maggie is currently undertaking a Diploma in Counsellor Supervision.

Before becoming a therapist, Maggie and her husband spent some years raising their own three (now adult) children and during this time were also foster carers. They share their home with their children, three rescue dogs and the odd hamster or two! When she is not in the therapy room, Maggie can be found walking the hills with her dog loving friends or upcycling furniture.

Maggie knows what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, and also knows sometimes life throws things at you that may seem impossible to deal with, – this is where she would like to support you. Maggie decided to train and qualify as a Psychotherapist after having her own therapeutic journey, which impacted and improved her life so much that it left her with a strong desire to help others regain control of their situations. To Maggie, the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between client and counsellor.

Her passion lies with helping people through the tough times in life.  She works with Adults and Adolescents. She has a keen interest in working with women of all ages, and also helping parents and adolescents learn to understand each other a little more and communicate more effectively, and loves working on a one-to-one basis with all clients as they navigate through the ups and downs of life.

Maggie offers general counselling, however, areas of particular interest to her are:

  • Working with Adults and Adolescents
  • Parenting
  • Anxiety/Stress/Depression (also Post Natal Depression)
  • Fostering
  • Grief and loss
  • Finding Joy in Life again!

Sessions are tailored with the client using a Person-Centred approach to work through those situations, thought patterns and behaviours that can be getting in the way.
