Petra is a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (BA Hons) and is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

Petra offers a calm and compassionate space to adult clients within which to explore and understand one’s inner world and experiences. She supports clients to gain a greater insight into patterns of belief and behaviour which may be causing them difficulty. Within the
trusting therapeutic relationship created, Petra facilitates the potential for healing and personal growth. She is passionate about instilling hope, fostering connection and meaning in life which may become obscured in times of distress and life transitions.

Petra’s person-centred approach is collaborative and draws on the influences of different therapeutic modalities, tailored to the unique needs and goals of the client. These include humanistic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic and family systems amongst others. Petra’s counselling experience extends across a wide range of issues including abuse, anxiety, bereavement and loss, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, sexual identity, stress and trauma.

She has a special interest in neurodiversity and has spent many years working in the education sector supporting adolescents with autism and additional difficulties.
Petra lives in Dublin having previously spent a number of years overseas. Together with her husband and family, she enjoys being active in the outdoors and walking her two dogs.
