Cathy Boobbyear
Integrative Psychotherapist
Cathy is an integrative psychotherapist with a unique perspective. She has lived and worked in different parts of the world – South Africa, UK and Ireland. This has included work in boarding school communities of both privilege and extreme disadvantage.
Her psychotherapy training combined with life experience has shaped her approach to therapy in which she sees each person as unique and valuable with their own perspective and purpose in life. Cathy aims to develop a relationship where life’s challenges can be worked through in an empathic and collaborative manner. Sessions are therefore tailored to each client drawing on modalities which may include, amongst others, Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Internal Family Systems. Her counselling provides a space for clients to explore issues at their own pace and in a way which empowers them on their journey of self-discovery and healing. At the heart of the therapeutic journey, Cathy believes is the relationship between mind, body and soul.
Cathy has experience in working with a variety of ages and issues including trauma, depression, family dynamics and relationships, anxiety, grief, loss and low self-esteem. She is available to work both in person and remotely.
Cathy combines work for Zest Life Therapeutic Services with work in a university Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Service. She is married and the mother of four young adults.
